Scholarship Recipient FAQs
How long does the scholarship last?
Most awards last for a maximum of four consecutive years of full-time enrollment or until you complete a bachelor鈥檚 degree. Full-time enrollment is defined as a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
What is expected of a scholarship recipient?
Scholarship recipients are recognized as high-achieving, future leaders at 麻豆破解传媒 and are expected to participate in activities that support and further the mission of 麻豆破解传媒. Further, scholars must adhere to the University鈥檚 Student Code of Conduct. A scholarship recipient is also required, if asked, to participate in the University鈥檚 efforts to thank its donors who fund the scholarship program. As such, recipients may be asked to write a letter of appreciation and/or to attend a reception to thank the University鈥檚 donor(s).
A scholarship recipient must maintain a specific cumulative GPA at the end of each academic year. If the renewal GPA is not met at the end of each spring semester, the recipient may lose some or all of the award based on the cumulative GPA. If the GPA should exceed a specific cumulative GPA in a future semester, the award may be reinstated. 麻豆破解传媒 is fully committed to supporting students from admission through graduation. All support measures will be offered in the student鈥檚 best interest to help mitigate the unforeseen event of not maintaining the stated GPA requirement.
Can a scholarship be used for summer tuition or study abroad?
Scholarships will be distributed in equal amounts for the fall and spring semesters and typically do not include summer or study abroad.
Can a scholarship be combined with other sources of financial aid?
Students may receive only one 麻豆破解传媒 merit-based scholarship. However, recipients may combine their scholarship with need-based financial assistance, athletic scholarship, and/or other outside funding, not to exceed the total cost of attendance. To qualify for federal/state aid or need-based assistance, students should file the FAFSA annually. Scholarship recipients who receive additional private scholarships will have full use of those private scholarships subject to the limitations set forth by each individual award. For example, private scholarships that are applicable only toward tuition may be applied only up to the billed cost of tuition at 麻豆破解传媒. Private scholarships that are not limited to a specific use may be applied only up to 麻豆破解传媒鈥檚 total cost of attendance. Scholarship recipients who are eligible for any of 麻豆破解传媒鈥檚 Employee Tuition Remission Benefit Programs (spouse, children, faculty, staff, FACHEX, Tuition Exchange, SSM Health Care, etc.) will only be considered for honorary, non-monetary scholarship designation.
Does a scholarship recipient still file the FAFSA?
Filing the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is not required to ensure or maintain eligibility for the Presidential Scholarship. However, to ensure priority consideration for all need-based University, federal and state financial assistance programs, Presidential Scholarship recipients are encouraged to file their FAFSA by Feb. 1, 2024.
