First Time College
Straight Admit:
Incoming freshmen students must meet one of the following criteria to be admitted to any of the five majors in the program.
Math ACT higher than ≥ 25 and overall cumulative grade point average higher than ≥ 3.0
or
Overall cumulative grade point average higher than ≥ 3.5 and grades of B or higher in math and science courses
Conditional Admit:
Incoming freshmen who do not meet the above criteria may be conditionally admitted to the program. This means they will not be eligible to sign up for UMKC classes until they have completed one successful semester here at Â鶹Æƽ⴫ý. This successful semester is defined as having completed either precalculus with a grade of B or higher or calculus I with a grade of C or higher, and also earning an overall cumulative grade point average higher than ≥ 2.7.
Following this successful semester, students are then eligible to take UMKC classes starting in the fall of their sophomore year. It is still possible that a conditional admit student may finish the program in four years; however, they must be prepared for the possibility that it may take five years to complete.
Transfer Students
Transfer students must meet the following criteria to be admitted to the joint program:
- Must have college credit for at least one math course at the college algebra level or above.
- A grade of C or higher in all college-level math, physics, and major required courses. A student may have repeated a course once in order to achieve this.
- College overall cumulative grade point average higher than ≥ 2.7
A transfer student who does not meet these criteria may enter Â鶹Æƽ⴫ý and apply to the program after they have completed one successful semester. A successful semester is defined as having taken at least one math class at the precalculus level or above and completed that class with a grade of C or higher. If the class is precalculus, a grade of B or higher is required. You must also earn an overall cumulative grade point average higher than ≥ 2.7. (See: Transfer policy)
Current Â鶹Æƽ⴫ý Students
Any current Â鶹Æƽ⴫ý student is eligible to apply to the program if they have completed at least one semester at Â鶹Æƽ⴫ý and meet the following criteria:
- Must have college credit with a grade of C or higher for at least one math course at the college algebra level or above.
