Biography

Charlotte Shelton, Ed.D., is an executive associate professor of management and senior scholar of leadership and management in the Helzberg School of Management. She teaches leadership and organizational behavior at the graduate level. Shelton has received the Helzberg School's Graduate Teaching Award and the Outstanding Scholarship Award. She was also awarded the Teaching Excellence Award in the Beijing International MBA program, where she served as a visiting professor.

Shelton's research interests include psychological resilience, nonprofit leadership, organizational culture, as well as generational workplace issues. She is a frequent seminar/conference presenter and contributes as an author to a wide variety of academic and trade journals. She received the Organization Development Journal Best Article Award and a Research Award from The International Academy of Business and Public Relations Disciplines.

Her books include "Quantum Leaps: Seven Skills for Workplace Re-Creation," available in English, Mandarin Chinese and Portuguese; "The NeXt Revolution: What Gen X Women Want at Work and How Their Boomer Bosses Can Help Them Get It," co-authored with her Gen X daughter Laura Shelton Garfield; and "Good Business: Putting Spiritual Principles into Practice at Work," co-edited with Martha Lynn.

Biography

Craig Sasse, Ph.D., is an associate professor of management and director of the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program for the Helzberg School of Management. He teaches advanced courses such as Strategy, Management, Communications, Innovation, as well as the MBA Capstone.

Sasse earned his Ph.D. at the University of Missouri in 1997, and his B.S. in accounting from William Jewell College.

Biography

Laura Janusik, Ph.D., is a professor, trainer, researcher, speaker and business consultant. She serves as a professor and the McGee chair of communication. Janusik has won numerous research and teaching awards from different professional and academic associations.

All of her work is supported by the most current research, which she shares and applies in training, coaching and consulting. Her approach to communication, both oral and written, is practical and other-centered, and she considers herself a confidence-giver, as when people understand the rules of social interaction, they become more comfortable with social interaction.

Research interests include pedagogy (teaching and learning), listening cognitions and metacogntions (thinking while listening), intercultural listening, and the contexts of education, healthcare and business.

Janusik is a past president of the International Listening Association and is published both nationally and internationally. Dr. Janusik retired from �鶹�ƽ⴫ý with Emeritus designation in the spring of 2019.

Biography

Katie Fischer Clune, Ph.D., is an associate professor of communication. She teaches courses in journalism, advertising, public relations and communication. She has three specific goals for each classroom she enters: to create a safe, collaborative learning environment; to focus on active learning; and to promote and facilitate critical thinking.

Clune is also director of the University's honors program. She works with the program's 200 students to help them pursue their intellectual curiosity, engage in active learning, develop their critical thinking skills, excel in oral and written expression and deepen their love of learning.

Her research agenda consists of two broad areas. The first is the intersection of gender, communication and leadership, and the second is the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Prior to teaching, Clune was a writer and editor in the public relations field for several years. She is a proud �鶹�ƽ⴫ý alumna. She, her husband, Matt, and their three young children live in Kansas City's Brookside area.

Biography

Jennifer Rinella, Ed.D., is Associate Dean for Academic Programs in the College of Business and Technology at �鶹�ƽ⴫ý. She also serves as an Associate Professor of Management in the Helzberg School of Management.

Dr. Rinella teaches undergraduate, graduate, and executive education courses in various management and nonprofit leadership topics, bringing both academic and professional experience to the classroom. As a Gallup-certified CliftonStrengths coach, she enjoys helping individuals and teams discover, develop, and apply their unique talents. In addition to faculty and administrative leadership at �鶹�ƽ⴫ý, she has held leadership and/or consulting roles with Providence Medical Center/St. John Hospital Foundation, Nonprofit Leadership Alliance, the LIGHT House, Mechanical Contractors Association, Menorah Medical Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Cure of Ars parish, and Ronald McDonald House Charities. Her research interests include organizational leadership, career paths of executive leaders, business ethics, and philanthropy. Her work has been published in the Journal of Organizational Behavior Education, Nonprofit & Voluntary Sector Quarterly, the Journal of Nonprofit Education & Leadership, and Conversations magazine. Dr. Rinella currently serves as president of the Cooney Family Foundation and is a member of the Board of Trustees at Menorah Medical Center. She is an editorial board member of the Journal of Nonprofit Education and Leadership and a former board member of the National Seminar on Jesuit Higher Education. She has received the RU Excellence in Outcomes Assessment Award, the American Humanics Community Service and Volunteerism Benchmark Award, the Presidential Grant for Faculty Development, and Jerome and Jeannette Cohen grants for research and program innovation.
