Biography

Wenbin Sun, Ph.D., is an associate professor of marketing at the Helzberg School of Management. His teaching areas include principles of marketing, marketing research, international marketing, marketing strategy, as well as marketing analytics at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Sun's research involves corporate social responsibility, marketing strategies, firm dynamic capabilities, longitudinal view of firm strategies, and their influences on firms' financial performance. His research has been published in a number of journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, European Management Journal and Journal of Service Theory and Practice.

Biography

Martin Stack, Ph.D., is a long-time professor of management in the Helzberg School of Management dedicated to teaching in three distinct, but related areas about which he is passionate: international business and management, competitive analysis and strategy, as well as healthcare management. As a professor of management, Stack teaches courses such as Business in the Global Environment, International Management, Competitive Analysis, Healthcare Systems and Corporate Social Responsibility.

An accomplished scholar, Stack has written several book chapters and published articles in a number of journals, including Business History Review, Business Horizons, Journal of Economic Issues, Choices, as well as the Journal of Management History.

Stack is an active member in Beeronomics and has authored a number of publications regarding U.S. and international brewing industries. Reflecting his professional experience in healthcare, he has also published several articles and book chapters on various dimensions of the market for healthcare. Lately, he has been exploring how data analytics is transforming a range of industries, including agriculture.

Stack is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the national business honor society, and has been awarded several research grants. He is also a member of the Academy of International Business, Academy of Management and Business History Association.

Biography

Sudhakar Raju, Ph.D., is a professor of finance and business intelligence and analytics. He has served as a consultant to several organizations, including the World Bank, UNDP, Chicago Board of Trade, Kuwait Investment Fund, Bahrain Stock Exchange and numerous commercial and central banks.

Raju has been teaching at the Harvard Kennedy School's summer quantitative program for the last 10 years. He is a recipient of both the Missouri Governor's Award for Teaching Excellence and the Harvard Kennedy School Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence.

He is certified as a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) by the Global Association of Risk Professionals. An accomplished scholar, Raju has published several papers on risk management, hedging, investing, as well as macroeconometrics.

Kelly Phipps, Ph.D., J.D., is an associate professor of management in the Helzberg School of Management. Phipps' primary areas of teaching are in leadership development and organizational behavior. He teaches Leadership and Organizational Behavior, Leadership Development, Developing Leadership in Organizations, Spirituality and Values in Leadership, as well as Law of Commercial Transactions.

In 2010, Phipps received the prestigious Outstanding Professor of the Year award from the Helzberg School of Management's student advisory board.

Biography

Katie Fischer Clune, Ph.D., is an associate professor of communication. She teaches courses in journalism, advertising, public relations and communication. She has three specific goals for each classroom she enters: to create a safe, collaborative learning environment; to focus on active learning; and to promote and facilitate critical thinking.

Clune is also director of the University's honors program. She works with the program's 200 students to help them pursue their intellectual curiosity, engage in active learning, develop their critical thinking skills, excel in oral and written expression and deepen their love of learning.

Her research agenda consists of two broad areas. The first is the intersection of gender, communication and leadership, and the second is the scholarship of teaching and learning.

Prior to teaching, Clune was a writer and editor in the public relations field for several years. She is a proud �鶹�ƽ⴫ý alumna. She, her husband, Matt, and their three young children live in Kansas City's Brookside area.

Biography

Jim Dockins, Ed.D., is a professor of management in the healthcare leadership program in the Helzberg School of Management. He teaches classes in health systems, health policy, leadership, and international business.

His prior teaching experiences include courses taught in health ethics, health policy, healthcare systems, organizational behavior and operations management. Dockins has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry as a senior executive in U.S. and international hospitals.

While attending the University of Memphis, Dockins obtained a Doctorate of Education degree and received an MBA from Lincoln University. He earned his undergraduate health sciences degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

His research interests include healthcare quality, access to healthcare, health policy, patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction. Dockins is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and also serves on the board of directors for the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City and Primaris Healthcare Business Solutions.

In his spare time, Dockins serves as a captain in the Missouri Wing of the Civil Air Patrol and is an FAA-certified flight instructor.

Biography

Tracy Blasdel, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of marketing and business communication in the Helzberg School of Management. Prior to her career in academia, Blasdel worked in corporate marketing and marketing agency settings for more than 10 years, sharing her marketing expertise with the likes of major corporate brands including: Blue Bunny Ice Cream, Minute Rice, Weight Watchers, H&R Block, Dell, Bayer CropScience and Cerner.

Blasdel completed her Ph.D. in organizational communication at the University of Kansas. She also has a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri and a Master of Business Administration from �鶹�ƽ⴫ý.

Biography

Shahid Ali, Ph.D., joined �鶹�ƽ⴫ý in 2000 and has served as a full-time faculty member instructing courses related to productions operations management, prescriptive analytics and Microsoft Excel expert certification. During his time at �鶹�ƽ⴫ý, Ali has been recognized for his intellectual contributions and research, evidenced by being awarded the �鶹�ƽ⴫ý Presidential Grant in 2002 and 2007, and the Dean's Summer Grant in 2001, 2003 and 2006. Ali has also served the Helzberg School of Management for three years as the senator for the Decision Sciences Division from 2002-2005. He has also served on the Rank and Tenure Committee from 2006-2009. Presently, his position on the Helzberg School Assessment Committee allows him to contribute to the assurance of student learning as an embedded program liaison officer.

His areas of research interests include: logistics, mathematical modeling, supply chain management, resource management, and collaborative technology. Ali earned his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in 1998, majoring in production and operations management, earned his MBA from Emporia State University in 1987, and his B.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, Pakistan.
